What if One Program Could Help You
(and Your Clients) Shift From Languishing to Flourishing?
Hey! I'm Dr. Shawn and I know from personal experience exactly what languishing looks like. Even though I was what most people would call “fit” and knew quite a bit about nutrition and exercise, I wasn’t thriving.
It wasn’t until I hit my personal “rock bottom” (coming in dead last in a triathlon) that I really started to consider what thriving looked like.
After improving my own overall health, I wanted to make sure everyone had access to what I learned and what had changed my life, so I started:
Training as a U.S. rower, cyclist, and triathlete which led me to become a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (ACN), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the American Institute of Stress (AIS).
I then began serving as a nutritional educator for athletes in a variety of sports. These included:
My experience in those communities helped me to research and create some of the leading nutritional products on the market. With this knowledge, I also created academic textbooks, award-winning documentaries, and several best-selling books.
My work as an athlete, coach, and educator has earned me national recognition on the TED and White House stages.
With all my vastly acquired knowledge, I was able to create this Mental Wellness Certification Program through Marietta College.
Through this program, you can learn how to improve your own health holistically and then have the tools and training to help others do the same.

The CMWC course has been such an amazing experience. The continuing education and question-and-answer time that is available multiple times each month is such a blessing. I now have the confidence to go out and serve others with the knowledge I have gained (and continue to gain).

I recently completed a mental wellness coaching certification with Dr. Sean Talbott, and I have to say, it was incredibly well put together. The course was easy to follow, yet highly informative, giving me a much deeper understanding of mental wellness. By the end of the course, I felt much more equipped to help others enhance their mental wellness through mindful practices and proper nutrition.
LANA
I love being a part of the CMWC program. The certification program was fantastic, but the ongoing weekly coaching calls and content have been icing on the cake. Just being able to have access to Dr. Shawn is priceless!

Testimonials
The certification has been a gift that keeps on giving! I have been piecing together my own understanding of holistic wellness for a long time. Doing the course has allowed me to not only fill in the gaps to my knowledge, but be able to better paint a picture of what root cause wellness looks like, as well as prevention care for the people I coach. It has also opened up the opportunity for direct Q&A's in coach only zoom calls where I continue to learn, grow, and spark even more interest in both myself and those I coach. I highly recommend this investment.

Holistic and Health-Oriented Approach
The program is explicitly health-oriented rather than disease-focused. It emphasizes promoting overall mental well-being through natural approaches rather than treating mental illnesses. This is reflected in the curriculum, which includes not only nutritional psychology but also exercise, mindset, nature exposure, and sleep quality.
Focus on the Gut-Brain Axis
A significant portion of the course is dedicated to the microbiome and the gut-brain axis. This cutting-edge science is fundamental to the program, differentiating it from other certifications that might not emphasize the biochemical and physiological connections between gut health and mental wellness.
Accessible Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to be accessible to both individuals with and without scientific backgrounds. It strikes a balance between being sufficiently detailed for those with scientific training and comprehensible for those new to the field. This inclusivity ensures that a broader range of participants can benefit from the program.
Practical and Realistic Goals
The program sets realistic and achievable goals for mental wellness improvements. Rather than promising drastic changes, it focuses on helping individuals make small, consistent lifestyle changes that lead to significant improvements in their daily functioning and overall mental state.
Community and Personal Impact
The program not only aims to enhance the participants' own mental wellness but also equips them with the skills to help others. This dual focus ensures that the benefits extend beyond the individual to their families, communities, and workplaces, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
Integration with Other Health Practices
The certification can complement other health-related careers. It is designed to integrate with existing professions such as personal training, health coaching, and nutrition, allowing participants to add mental wellness coaching to their repertoire.
Emphasis on Current Research and Trends
The course content is informed by the latest research and global trends in mental wellness. Dr. Shawn highlights the increasing public and scientific interest in natural mental health solutions, positioning the program as timely and relevant.
Structured Around Real-Life Applications
The program includes practical applications and real-life scenarios, preparing participants to implement what they learn effectively. This pragmatic approach ensures that the knowledge gained is not just theoretical but also actionable and impactful.

I have a lot of letters behind my name.

That’s the beauty of this course…I’ve consolidated all my knowledge and practical experience into this program.
On top of that, the add-on weekly webinars (less than $30 per class) allow you to learn about new trends and science in the field. During the webinars, you have the opportunity to ask questions about the course material, new information, and helping your clients.
