The future of “gut health” isn’t just digestion – and…
The future of mental fitness may come down to one question:
What are you feeding your microbiome?”
According to a new article from NutraIngredients, (basically the Wall Street journal of the nutraceutical industry) – one of the biggest trends in 2026 is the expansion of microbiome science into mood, focus, stress resilience, sleep, and cognitive performance – all through the gut-brain axis.
That’s a huge shift – and I’ll post a link to the article in the Mental Fitness Community.
For years, probiotics were mostly marketed for bloating and digestion – and mental wellness was just a ‘brain thing’ that happened “up here” in your head.
Now the industry is recognizing that the microbiome is deeply connected to neurotransmitters, cortisol signaling, inflammation, sleep quality, and mental performance.
What’s even more exciting is the movement away from “single-function” ingredients toward what I call a more integrated biochemical “systems” approach.
The NutraIngredients article even highlighted the rise of psychobiotic strains and targeted polyphenols for stress and sleep support – some of the exact same ingredients that I’ve been talking about for years – and formulating into award-winning products like zenith.
It’s great that I helped pioneer the concept of “multi-biotic” formulations years ago, but it’s even better that more and more companies are helping more and more customers by following that lead to combine:
• pro-biotics with
• pre-biotics with
• post-biotics and
• plant bioactives – which I call phyto-biotics
…because your microbiome is an integrated ecosystem, and a single strain can’t do everything…
At 3 Waves Wellness, we’re building on that ecosystem concept with Zenith, which is designed to support the entire microbiome-gut-brain axis for resilience, mood, focus, stress balance, and mental fitness – what we call ‘everyday excellence’
Until the end of this month – May is Mental Health Awareness Month – you can save $10 on zenith with code ‘STRESS10’ at 3waveswellness.com
The science of the microbiome-gut-brain-axis is evolving quickly – so we’re always learning new ways to naturally balance these signals to help people feel their best –
I think it’s about time the gut got the credit it deserves – as your second brain – for what’s happening upstairs.
How you feel is not just in your head – it’s also in your gut!
See you next time…
